When all else fails, look up to a tree. It will restore life’s wonder and possibility.

Meet Tamara Johnson, M.Ed., LPC
Psychotherapist
As a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Texas for over 27 years, I’ve helped teens, families, and adults. My counseling career started as a crisis interventionist in a public school district, helping teens and families navigate unhealthy patterns. I utilize my training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapies for client treatment.
After working with several non-profits, I recognized my need for more education and training to be an effective, professional helper. My therapeutic approach is to encourage and treat clients through a lens of compassion married with research-based treatment. ShadeTree’s clients are in various life stages and seeking a new approach to cope with individual challenges. I walk alongside clients on this important journey of self-discovery and healing.
Reaching out to a counselor takes great courage and trust, and I'm honored to be given the opportunity to help. Together we will create a personalized treatment plan that is designed to help you reach your goals.
I invite you to contact me and schedule a free 15-minute consultation to see if our services match your view of therapy.

I’m a lifelong outdoor enthusiast. Much of my free time involves connecting to nature - gardening, walking my dogs, fishing, and hiking. I enjoy travel, but equally enjoy curling up in the evenings with a good book to decompress from the day. Singing with a local community chorus is also a favorite past time, as I’m an avid musical theater fan.
Texas lake bass and crappie fishing -- a favorite hobby.
Mountain biking in Taos, New Mexico
Brindy, my rescue pup, is a constant companion.
